We have a busy summer planned at the pool and with the rec department, and we’re kicking it off tomorrow with our School’s Out FREE Swim Day! Join us at the pool from 1 – 5pm for free swimming, snacks and games!
Summer Camp Friday will begin this week, on June 3. Camp Friday is for kids ages 5 – 8, and costs $5 per session. Join us for all 9 camps, or as many days as your child would like. We’ll focus on active play, fitness games, arts and crafts, and more!
On Monday, June 6, we begin the first of five sessions of summer swim lessons for tots and kids. Swim lessons are available for kids ages 3 and older, and of any ability level. Swimming is a really important skill for kids, not only for health, fitness, and fun, but also for their safety. Cost is only $50 for a series of 8 lessons ($55 for late registrations) and youth scholarships are available.
The Rockies Baseball Skills Challenge will take place June 8 from 4 – 6pm at the Marvin Park Baseball fields. This is a free competition for girls and boys ages 6 – 13, and will involve batting, base running, and throwing challenges.
We have an extended lineup for this year’s Thursdays @ Six Concert Series, thanks to generous contributions from local sponsors. As always, this series is FREE, with donations accepted for the Salida Recreation Youth Scholarship Program. Grab a picnic, blanket, camp chairs, family, and friends and head down to Riverside Park Thursdays throughout the summer for free music in the park!
June also means FIBArk, which is only two weeks away! The Salida Rec Department organizes the FIBArk running and mountain bike events, which involved a record 600 + participants last year. Pre-registration will close at noon on June 15; all race day registrations will be charged an additional $5. Race dates include:
FIBArk Hill Climb: June 16 at 6pm
FIBArk 5K and 10K Road Races: June 18 at 8am
FIBArk 10K Trail Run: June 19 at 8am
